Theme: Governance and Public Service Delivery in Nigeria: The Role of Information and Communication Technologies

The world has witnessed an increasing permeation of Information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the different sectors of the society. ICTs now become indispensable for governance and public service delivery and essential for managing, achieving and sustaining organizations’ mandate and goals. Nigeria in recent years, has responded to the global imperative of integrating ICTs in administrative and political processes through a variety of strategies. Despite the many successes recorded, Nigeria continues to trail in many indicators of e-governance practice and readiness.

The Fourth Covenant University Conference on E-governance in Nigeria (CUCEN2017) provides a veritable platform for diverse group of participants from the academic, policy, professional, entrepreneurial and technological communities to explore and promote, from a multiplicity of backgrounds, the emerging empirical work on the integration of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in governance and public service delivery.

The theme of CUCEN2017 is broad enough to cover every aspect of ICT integration in all areas of administrative practices including activities in the private sector and civil society. We, therefore, invite papers and panels that address the broad theme of ICT integration in all sectorial activities in Nigeria. Emphasis will be given to presentations emerging from primary research and case studies of ICT integration in different aspects of the Nigerian society, policy papers, and theoretical and methodological contributions to our understanding of the role of ICT for improved governance and public service delivery.

Deadlines:

  1. Submission of full-length paper (5,000-7,000 words): April 30, 2017.  Each paper will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality.
  2. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by May 15, 2017 and given the opportunity to revise their papers (where applicable) for a final submission.
  3. Final submission of full papers:  May 22, 2017
  4. Submission of a PowerPoint Presentation of 15-20 slides including the reference slide(s) of the accepted conference paper: May 28, 2017
  5. Conference begins: June 7, 2017

All accepted papers will be published as Conference Proceedings (in a CD) to be given to participants during registration on arrival at the conference. Authors of the best ten conference papers (evaluated on originality of research, quality of analysis and contribution to knowledge) will be contacted after the conference and invited to submit their revised papers for inclusion in a special issue of a peer-reviewed scholarly journal.  

In addition, a Certificate of Participation will be issued to all registered participants.
